What Is the Dark Phoenix in WoW?

The Dark Phoenix is a flying mount from Cataclysm: a phoenix wrapped in dark purple fire instead of the usual orange flame. It is a guild reward. Guild vendors sell it to members of a guild that holds the guild achievement Guild Glory of the Cataclysm Raider, and the buyer also has to be Exalted with that guild.

That double gate is why it is rarer than most Cataclysm mounts. Your guild must have cleared the raid achievements of that era together, and you personally must have built up full guild reputation. Many players today are in small guilds that never did either.

How the Dark Phoenix Boost Works

When the order starts, the booster and you agree in the order chat how the guild requirement is met for your character. The booster then raises your guild reputation to Exalted, visits the guild vendor and buys the Dark Phoenix. Once it is learned, you get a screenshot and confirm the order. Play is Piloted or by Remote Control.

Guild reputation comes from ordinary play: quests, dungeons and other content done while in the guild. The booster chooses the fastest mix of these for your character, and anything those activities drop, from gear to gold, stays with you.

Buy the Dark Phoenix With Other Cataclysm Mounts

The phoenix sits in a small family of Cataclysm guild and raid mounts. The Drake of the East Wind boost is another reward from the same expansion, and the Volcanic Stone Drake carry comes from the raid meta-achievement itself. Alliance collectors usually add the Reins of the Golden King boost for the faction lion.

How Long the Dark Phoenix Carry Takes

Most orders are done in about 3–5 days. The guild reputation climb is the longest part; the vendor purchase itself is quick and happens the moment Exalted is reached.
