WoW Forever Legacy rewards you for stuff you'd probably do anyway. Level a class, max a craft, clear a few dungeons, and the game drops a point into a pool your whole Battle.net account shares. Spend those on little perks, keep going, and at 55 you've earned the Reins of the Spectral Bear mount.
One character tops out at 29 points, so the bear is an alt project from the start. If you want the grind done for you, our WoW Forever Legacy boost handles any category. We checked every number on November 7, 2026, and we flag rumors where we use them.
- 65 challenges at launch, 1 point each, shared across the account.
- Each character spends up to 16 points in three trees of 7 perks.
- 29 is the most one hero can bring in on their own. Everything past that? Alts.
- Goodies wait at 15, 25, 40 and 55. Spending points won't cost you progress there.
- The window opens with your first point: hit Y, or click the little shield.
So how does the Legacy system work in WoW Forever?
Picture a second talent panel that belongs to your account instead of one hero. Earn a point on your hunter and your priest has it too, as long as neither is Hardcore. Each one spends its own share though, so the warrior grabs combat stuff while the mage goes all in on crafting. Earned and spent points are tracked apart.
Earned points move you along the reward track. Spent points are capped at 16 per character for now. Blizzard has said each content release brings new challenges and new perks.
Most people get their first point at level 25. You don't have to wait for that, though. 150 in a craft or a fully explored world map does the job too.
Where do the 65 Legacy points actually come from?
Short version: classes are the big one at 27 points. Crafting is worth 18 and PvP 12, and the last 8 are split between dungeons, raids and two Adventure goals. Here's every step in one table, so you can check off what your account already has and see what's left.
| Category | Points | How you earn them |
|---|---|---|
| Classes | 27 | Each of the 9 classes at level 25, 45 and 60 |
| Crafting | 18 | Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking or Tailoring at 150, 225 and 300 |
| PvP | 12 | Honor ranks 3, 7, 10, 13 and 14; Exalted with all four battleground factions; Field of Honor weeks 4, 7 and 10 |
| Adventure | 2 | Explore Azeroth on one character; the Lord Valthalak quest chain |
| Dungeons | 3 | Novice Spelunker, Experienced Spelunker and Master Spelunker: the last boss of every dungeon in the 15–25, 26–45 and 46–60 groups |
| Raids | 3 | Conqueror of the Lair (Onyxia), Conqueror of the Wilds (13 Hyjal Summit bosses), Conqueror of the Deeps (8 Barrow Deeps bosses) |
Gathering and the secondary skills don't pay out here, sorry, miners. A class counts once, so a second druid at 25 adds no point. The Valthalak chain starts with An Earnest Proposition and sends you through several dungeons, so bring friends.
How many Legacy points can one character earn?
29, and that's if you do everything. Your class is worth 3, your two crafts 6, and the full PvP grind a hefty 12. Toss in 2 for Adventure and 6 for dungeons and raids. Hate battlegrounds? Then you're looking at 17, and that's usually when people roll an alt.
Every other point lives on another character. A new class taken to 60 brings 3. An alt with two fresh crafts adds up to 6. Spread all six crafts over three characters and you've cleared crafting completely.
Which Legacy perks are actually worth it?

Honestly, it depends on what that character is up to this week. You've got three trees, Adventure, Professions and Resourcefulness, with 7 perks in each. Put 5 points in a tree to open its second row, 10 for the third. Arrows look scary, but one rank in the perk above is enough.
With only 16 to play with, you'll touch row three in one tree at most.
| Tree | What's in it (number = max rank) |
|---|---|
| Adventure | Well Rested 5, Talented 5, Thrill of Adventure 5, Field Guide 3, Field Medicine 2, High Alert 2, Frequent Flier 1 |
| Professions | Working Overtime 5, Bountiful Harvest 5, Master Chef 5, Performance Bonus 3, Bartering 2, Luremaster 2, Dedicated Study 1 |
| Resourcefulness | Reinforce 5, Diplomat 5, For Great Honor 5, Gourmand 3, The Quick and the Dead 2, Permanence 2, Reagent Economy 1 |
The ones players argue about most:
- Talented: max it and your first talent point lands at 5 instead of 10. Lovely on a fresh alt. At 60 you've got 51 points either way, so don't keep it there.
- Thrill of Adventure tops up a bit of health and mana whenever you kill something out in the world. Less sitting around eating bread. It does nothing in dungeons, raids or battlegrounds.
- Working Overtime raises the skill-up chance in every trade, Lockpicking too. Here's the catch: beta guides said 20% at full rank, and Wowhead's live data says 10%. Same story with Master Chef (50% vs 30%) and Reinforce (40% vs 20%). We'd trust the in-game tooltip over any guide, ours included.
- Dedicated Study hands you a daily skill point. Once every trade sits at 300, it gives free Elemental Essence instead.
- Reagent Economy drops the vendor reagents from class spells. You save bag slots more than gold.
- The Quick and the Dead was broken at launch and got fixed in the November 6 hotfixes.
What's the best Legacy build for 16 points?
There isn't one, sorry. Your fresh main hates downtime, your alt just wants levels, and your crafter wants skill-ups cheap. So we made four. Every set below fits in 16 points and plays by the row rules, which means you can copy it straight into the window.
| Character | 16 points | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| First character | Thrill of Adventure 5, Working Overtime 5, Field Guide 3, Field Medicine 2, Frequent Flier 1 | Fewer breaks between pulls and quicker skill-ups while you level crafts |
| Alt | Well Rested 5, Talented 5, Field Guide 3, Field Medicine 2, Frequent Flier 1 | Extra rested XP and talent points from level 5 |
| Crafter | Bountiful Harvest 5 and Working Overtime 5, plus Master Chef 3, Bartering 2 and Dedicated Study 1 | Cheaper skill-ups, more Scarce materials and a free daily point |
| Battlegrounds | For Great Honor 5, Diplomat 5, Gourmand 3, The Quick and the Dead 2, Reagent Economy 1 | More Honor and battleground reputation, which both feed PvP points |
Your class trainer resets perks, the same NPC who resets talents. On the beta the first reset was 1 silver, every next one cost more, and the price slid back a step each hour. Blizzard has not posted live prices. Some players say a first reset runs about 10 gold, so take that as hearsay until you see the trainer's quote.
What rewards does the Legacy track give?

There are four rewards, all cosmetic and all account-wide. The track counts every point you have ever earned, so spending points on perks never pushes a reward further away. The rifle comes first at 15, and the mount waits at the very end at 55.
| Points earned | Reward |
|---|---|
| 15 | Holstered Replica Ironforge Air Rifle |
| 25 | Spectral Bear Cub |
| 40 | Spectral Bear Tabard |
| 55 | Reins of the Spectral Bear |
The rifle is a toy for mock shootouts with friends. The cub and the tabard exist only on this track, and Blizzard says more cosmetics and toys will join it later.
How do you get the Spectral Bear mount fast?

You need 55 earned points, and your main can only make 29, so plan around alts from day one. The route below skips the top PvP ranks and still lands on 55. Class levels are the slow part, since 27 of the 65 points sit there.
- Main: level 60, two crafts to 300, all three dungeon goals, both Adventure goals and the raids after December 9. That is 17.
- Early PvP on the main: ranks 3 and 7 plus Field of Honor week 4. Now you have around 20.
- Two alts to 60, each with two crafts you have not leveled yet. That is 9 per alt, around 38 in total.
- Four more classes to 45 for 8 points, then to 60 for 4 more. You are at 50.
- Finish with whatever is closest: one more class, more PvP ranks or battleground Exalted.
Our WoW Forever powerleveling pushes an alt through the 25, 45 and 60 marks without you sitting at the keyboard.
If you would rather skip the whole plan, the Spectral Bear mount boost covers the road to 55 from wherever you are now.
Crafting is the second big block. Our WoW Forever professions guide shows the order and materials for each trade.
Which Legacy points are fastest to get right now?
The quickest points are the ones you pick up while leveling anyway. Level 25 on new classes, crafts to 150 and the low dungeon goal cost little time. Raids, high honor ranks and Master Spelunker take weeks, so grab the cheap ones first and leave those for later.
- Level 25 on new classes. Nine easy points, usually a day or two per alt.
- Crafting to 150. Six points that cost materials more than time.
- Novice Spelunker. Kill the last boss of each low dungeon on the way up.
- Honor rank 3. A few evenings of battlegrounds in the first weeks.
Raids open on December 9, and ranks 10 to 14 follow the PvP weeks, so nobody can rush those.
How does Legacy work with Hardcore?
Hardcore has not launched yet. When it does, it gets 12 challenges of its own in place of PvP. Points earned on Hardcore count on your other rulesets as well, but points from Normal, PvP or Roleplaying characters do not carry over into Hardcore.
Why is the Legacy tab not opening?
You're not alone: since launch a bunch of players over 25 have found the tab greyed out, and Blizzard hasn't said a word about it yet. Two things are worth a try: click the shield in the menu instead of pressing Y, then do a full logout. Still stuck? Send a bug report from the game and mention your level and which challenge you finished.
What could come next for Legacy?
Blizzard has confirmed new challenges in each content release, new perks in the current trees and new trees later on. Everything else comes from client files and fan sites, so treat it as rumor. Here is what dataminers have spotted so far.
- Six hidden perks. Each tree has two empty slots marked as not implemented, and the second one needs the first.
- A higher cap. In the client, the 16-point limit carries the label seasonal cap. Fan sites took one look at that word and started betting on a raise.
- Unused perks. More perks sit in the files outside any tree, Master Forager among them. Nothing says they will ship.
- More rewards. Blizzard plans extra cosmetics and toys for the track, with no point thresholds named yet.
Which is also why we'd keep farming past 16. If the cap moves, those spare points kick in the same day.
WoW Forever Legacy FAQ
How many Legacy points can you get in WoW Forever?
65 right now, one for every challenge, and they belong to your account, not one character. Most of them, 27, come from leveling classes. After that it’s crafting with 18, PvP with 12, a 3 each for dungeons and raids, and 2 from Adventure. Blizzard has promised new challenges with each update, so that 65 won’t stay put for long.
Is there a Legacy point cap per character?
You can spend 16 on any one character for now. That’s a spending limit, not an earning one. Keep collecting past it and every extra point still moves the reward track. Funny detail: the game files call it a seasonal cap, and plenty of players read that as a hint it’ll go up.
Are Legacy points account-wide?
Yep. Log into any non-Hardcore character on that Battle.net account and you’ll see the same earned total. Spending is per character, though, so your rogue and your paladin can run totally different perks. Hardcore is its own little world, but whatever you earn there also lands on your normal characters.
How many points do you need for the Spectral Bear?
55 earned points gets you the Reins of the Spectral Bear. On the way you’ll pick up the rifle toy at 15, the cub at 25 and the tabard at 40. And don’t hoard points for it: spent ones still count, so put them into perks and enjoy them while you grind.
Can you reset Legacy perks?
You can, at your class trainer, same guy who wipes your talents. On the beta it started at 1 silver and got pricier each time, then crept back down if you waited. Blizzard hasn’t shared live prices yet, so just ask the trainer and see what number pops up before you click.
Do gathering professions give Legacy points?
Nope. It’s crafting or nothing: Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking and Tailoring, with a point each at 150, 225 and 300. Your herbalist and your fisher get nothing on the track. They still get some love from perks, though, Bountiful Harvest especially.
