What Is a Relic Weapon in FFXIV?

A relic weapon in FFXIV is a job weapon you upgrade through a long quest chain, one chain per expansion. Each stage changes the look, and the last one often glows. The numbers no longer matter for current content. Players buy a relic weapon boost for glamour, for the collection and for the story of the quest line.

Every expansion did it differently. The Zodiac line sends you through old duties and the Atmas. Eureka weapons come from the Forbidden Land, Eureka, from Anemos to Hydatos. Resistance weapons are built in the Bozjan Southern Front and Zadnor. The Manderville chain follows Hildibrand's story through Endwalker.

How Long the Relic Carry Takes

A full relic line takes 3 to 14 days. Manderville is near the short end, while Zodiac and Eureka need the most farming. The booster sends each finished stage to the order chat, and the last screenshot shows the completed weapon.

Good to know: each line only exists for the jobs of its expansion and older. A Viper or a Pictomancer cannot take a Zodiac weapon, so check the line against your job before you order.

Not sure which line to pick? Look at the final stages on other players in your city, or ask a friend to show theirs, and choose the look you like most. Since the numbers no longer matter, the look is the whole point. Tell the booster in the order chat if you want a stop at a stage you like.
