Onyxia’s Lair in WoW Forever: The 40-Player Raid
Onyxia’s Lair is one of the three raids that unlock in World of Warcraft: Forever on December 9, 2026, next to The Barrow Deeps for 10 players and Hyjal Summit for 20. It is the returning raid of the three and the only one that keeps the full 40-player size. Blizzard chose to open the new game’s endgame with two new, smaller raids and one familiar 40-player fight, and Onyxia is that fight.
Onyxia is the Broodmother of the black dragonflight and the daughter of Deathwing, one of the most recognizable raid bosses in Warcraft. World of Warcraft: Forever tells stories set at the beginning of the game’s history, and her lair is part of that world from the first raid night.
Blizzard has not yet said whether the WoW Forever version changes the encounter, the loot or the entry requirements, and we do not guess. What is certain is the raid size, and the raid size is exactly what makes a Classic Plus Onyxia raid hard to get into.
Why a 40-Player Raid Is the Hardest One to Join
A 10-player raid needs a small circle of friends. A 20-player raid needs a guild. A 40-player raid needs a guild that has already solved its roster: enough tanks, enough healers, enough players online on the same evening, and a loot system that forty people accept. On a brand-new realm in December, very few groups have that.
That is where most players get stuck. The character is 60, the gear is ready, but the raid never forms — or it forms and falls apart when a dozen people do not show up. A WoW Forever Onyxia’s Lair boost removes that problem entirely. The forty seats are already filled by a team that raids together, and one of them is yours.
What a WoW Forever Onyxia Boost Covers
- Onyxia kill. A full run of Onyxia’s Lair with your character in the raid, loot by the agreed rule.
- Loot run. A seat in the raid with priority on the items you name from the loot table.
- Reset package. Onyxia’s Lair every reset until the items on your list have dropped for you.
- Entry requirements. If Blizzard adds an attunement or another requirement for the raid, meeting it can be part of the order.
Everything assigned to you stays on your character, along with the gold the run earns. The raid runs on our own team, not on a pick-up group built around your order — that is the difference between an Onyxia carry and forty strangers on a voice channel.
Onyxia Kill, Loot Run or Reset Package
| Run type | What you get | When to order it |
| Onyxia kill | A full run with loot by the agreed rule | Your first Onyxia kill in WoW Forever |
| Loot run | A seat with priority on the pieces you name | A specific item from the loot table |
| Reset package | The raid every reset until your list is complete | Several items that need more than one kill |
The choice is simple. One kill for the experience and whatever the agreed rule gives you is an Onyxia kill. A specific item is a loot run. A list that needs more than one reset is a reset package. When you buy an Onyxia run, each order stands on its own and closes on its own target.
Getting Ready for Onyxia’s Lair
Onyxia’s Lair opens five weeks after World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, and a level 60 character in quest greens gets far less out of it than one in a full pre-raid set. The late dungeons at the level cap are where that set comes from, and a pre-raid gear order can have it ready before the raid opens.
The new tier sets and the legendary reward come from the other two launch raids, The Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit, so a full best-in-slot list combines all three. Gold for enchants and raid consumables is best sorted before the first pull.
Self-Play or Piloted Onyxia Runs
Self-play is the main format for Onyxia’s Lair. You take a seat in the raid, play your own character and loot your own drops. The account never leaves your hands, and the dragon falls on your screen.
Piloted runs are for reset packages and for players who cannot be online at raid time. Our raider plays the character through the run, and the loot waits in its bags when you log in.
To book, we need the character, realm and region, class and role, the run type and the format. Support sends the next available raid times, you pick one, and the seat is yours.
When You Can Buy an Onyxia’s Lair Run
Onyxia’s Lair opens on December 9, 2026, and Onyxia raid orders run from that day. Blizzard has not yet published the loot table, the lockout rules or any entry requirement for the WoW Forever version; this page is updated as soon as they are official.
When you buy a Classic Plus Onyxia’s Lair boost, the order is fixed before the first pull: the run type, the loot rule and the raid time. For the other raids and run types, see WoW Forever raid boost.
Why Buy a Classic Plus Onyxia Boost from FrostyBoost
- A formed 40-player team. Every seat filled by players who raid together, not a group assembled around one order.
- A result by target. The order closes on the kill or the pieces you named, confirmed with you.
- Loot agreed up front. Nobody rolls against you on the items you booked.
- EU and US. Raid times matched to your realm and region.
- One section, every step. Leveling, gear, gold and every WoW Forever raid in one place, so each order leads to the next.
