Patch 12.1.5, The Promise of Tomorrow, is the second content update of WoW Midnight Season 2. It closes the Quel’thalas and Zul’Aman arc that Curse of Ula’tek opened. Four things arrive with it. A campaign that ends underneath the Vaults of Ula’tek. A single-boss raid against Kith’ix with the highest item level of the season. The first Labyrinth, in Kindo’jan. And hourly Aqir Invasions in Eversong Woods and Zul’Aman. Ascendant Venomstones return with the neck slot added, and a five-million-gold vendor mount lands in Harandar. This guide covers every 12.1.5 feature with the numbers we can confirm, the rewards that close on a deadline, and a week-one order of operations.
WoW Patch 12.1.5: Quick Facts
When Does WoW Patch 12.1.5 Release?
Not announced
Blizzard has not announced a release date for Patch 12.1.5. The overview went up and the PTR opened on September 3, 2026. The published 2026 roadmap places the update in autumn. That is the whole of the official position. Every specific day circulating right now is an estimate built on patch history, not an announcement.
What patch history actually tells you is how to read the PTR rather than what to write in a calendar. Minor content updates of this size normally spend several weeks in testing while class tuning and raid numbers settle. The giveaway is not the length of the test but its content. When the PTR build stops changing encounter numbers and starts adding login rewards and event calendars, the date is days away.
The date the community has settled on is October 6–7, 2026, and it is worth understanding where it comes from rather than repeating it. October 6 is a Tuesday and October 7 a Wednesday — the weekly reset days on US and EU realms, which is when content patches land. It is also four weeks from the day the PTR opened, the earliest point a test cycle of this size usually finishes. So the guess is not random: it is the first reset that fits the testing window. It is still a guess. Blizzard has named no date, and a single extra tuning pass moves it a week.
One thing is settled, and it changes how you plan. 12.1.5 does not start a new season. Midnight Season 2 keeps running through the patch. Mythic+ affixes and the dungeon pool stay as they are. No new tier sets arrive, the Great Vault keeps the same slots, and nothing you earned in Curse of Ula’tek gets invalidated. The patch adds a raid on top of the two you already run. Then a new content type beside Delves, and one more upgrade path for gear you already own. For the full feature list from the source, Blizzard’s own 12.1.5 overview is the reference this guide works from.

Read the Patch 12.1.5 feature table as two halves. The top three are content you play; the bottom three are systems that change what your character does between raids. The practical shape of the patch, though, is that everything feeds the same gear ladder rather than resetting it. Kith’ix drops the highest item level in Season 2, on the same Veteran, Champion, Hero and Myth tracks you already use. The Labyrinth pays doubled crests for those tracks. Venomstones sit at the very top, one rank above where the tracks stop. Nothing in 12.1.5 asks you to start over. It asks where your best three slots are, and hands you three roads to improve them.
The Promise of Tomorrow: Campaign and the Light’s Faithful Title
Patch 12.1.5 opens where 12.1 stopped: the Amani never killed Kith’ix. They buried the C’Thraxxi general beneath their own vaults and bound him there, and Ula’tek’s defeat worked those bindings loose. The Promise of Tomorrow follows what comes out. An uneasy truce between Quel’thalas and Zul’Aman, a descent into the deepest part of the Coiled Isle, and a last stand against the thing the trolls have guarded for centuries. Lady Liadrin carries the story, and she is on the field in the raid at the end of it.
Two rewards are attached to finishing the 12.1.5 chain: the achievement The Promise of Tomorrow and the title Light’s Faithful. On the Coiled Isle, a rare elite named Grasp of Kith’ix joins the outdoor pool at level 90.
What the campaign gates has not been stated. In Midnight so far, story chapters have opened raid entrances and unlocked systems rather than sitting to one side. This raid is the literal end of the chapter. Plan week one as if the campaign comes before The Unbinding of Kith’ix; we confirm the requirement the moment it is testable on live realms.
The Unbinding of Kith’ix: the One-Boss Raid
The Unbinding of Kith’ix is the third raid instance of Season 2, after Venomous Abyss and Tidebound Grotto. It holds exactly one encounter. The format is the one Sporefall used: a single boss, four difficulties, its own lockout. You fight Kith’ix with Lady Liadrin beside you, and her presence is a mechanic rather than set dressing.
Difficulties and Item Level
PTR
| Difficulty | Item level | Track | Against the rest of Season 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| LFR | 285 | Veteran 3/6 | Entry level for the patch |
| Normal | 298 | Champion 3/6 | Above Tidebound Grotto Normal |
| Heroic | 311 | Hero 3/6 | Above Venomous Abyss Heroic (298–308) |
| Mythic | 344 | Myth 9/6 | Above the Venomous Abyss ceiling of 337 |
The Mythic line is the headline. At 344, one boss holds the highest item level in Midnight Season 2. That is above everything in Venomous Abyss, which tops out at 337, and well above Tidebound Grotto at 318. Ten items on one loot table, once a week, is the tightest funnel of the season. It is also why a single-boss raid will be the most contested lockout in 12.1.5.
Kith’ix Loot Table
PTR
| Item | Slot | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Lightbearer’s Shield Fragment | Trinket (tank) | On-use absorb that also redirects a share of allied damage taken |
| Sigil of the Impending Eclipse | Trinket (healer) | Haste that scales with how much health the target is missing |
| Twisted Horror’s Tendril | Trinket (damage) | Stacking critical strike, with stacks carried to a new target on a cooldown |
| Lu’selama, Light’s Justice | Two-handed sword | Ignites on damage for a burst of Haste, with extra Radiant damage while lit |
| Sanctified Knight’s Phoenixblade | One-handed sword | Healing spells deal damage and damage spells heal |
| Corroded Hulk’s Skullcap | Head (plate) | Shared armor cantrip: periodic Shadow damage around you |
| Aberrant Commander’s Gauntlets | Hands (mail) | Shared armor cantrip |
| Leggings of Palpable Terror | Legs (leather) | Shared armor cantrip |
| Voidweaver’s Vestments | Chest (cloth) | Shared armor cantrip |
| Band of the Swarmcaller | Ring | Procs Acidbrood Scourge |
Three trinkets on one table, one for each role, is unusual. It decides how most groups treat the raid: not as a weekly clear but as a weekly roll at three specific items. The rest is a weapon pair, four armor pieces across the four armor types, and a ring. No armor class is locked out. Two extras drop alongside: the toy Shadeweaver’s Hearthstone and Kith’ix’s Seal as housing decor.
How the Fight Works
PTR
The 12.1.5 encounter journal describes a fight built around two clocks. Aqir adds must die before Suffocating Darkness resolves, or Kith’ix enters Dark Frenzy. Meanwhile Liadrin’s motes give Light’s Embrace, which cuts Extinguish by ninety percent. The rest divides by role:
- Tanks: Dark Devastation is the main hit to trade. Commanding Presence halves damage to adds standing near the boss, so packs have to be pulled away rather than cleaved on top of him.
- Healers: Abyssal Grasp lands an eight-second healing absorb, so raid healing burns through a shield before it counts. Digestive Juices and Gut Reaction turn stray bugs into bombs.
- Damage: at twenty-five percent Kith’ix casts Stygian Howl and the fight becomes Last Light, a race against Eightfold Eclipse. Liadrin’s Divine Radiance clears the darkness and stuns the boss for eight seconds when it lands.
Achievements are the standard set for a single-boss instance in 12.1.5: Kith’ix on Normal and above, Heroic: Kith’ix, and Mythic: Kith’ix. There is no Ahead of the Curve or Cutting Edge on a one-boss raid. The only permanent marker of when you killed him is the achievement date. One more reason to be there early: every Heroic and Mythic kill also drops an Ascendant Venomstone.
What Are Labyrinths in WoW? The Labyrinth of Kindo’jan
Labyrinths are the new content type of 12.1.5, and the first one sits under the Amani burial complex. Nine chambers, three factions fighting over the place — scavengers, the Vilebranch and the spirits already there. Valeera Sanguinar comes along as your companion, and Kindo’jan waits at the end. The labyrinth scales from Tier 1 to Tier 11, the same ladder Delves use.
How a Labyrinth Differs From a Delve
Length and payout structure. A delve is one sitting that pays once at the end. A labyrinth runs nine chambers in order and pays every third one. You can walk out between payouts and come back later without losing the run. That is the whole design idea: delve pacing at mega-dungeon length, with checkpoints. Lives work as they do in Delves, and losing one does not end the attempt.
Tiers, Chambers and Rewards
| Chambers cleared | Rewards |
|---|---|
| 3 | 2 Heavy Trunks, 1 Bountiful Coffer, Great Vault credit, the tier achievement |
| 6 | +2 Heavy Trunks, +1 Bountiful Coffer |
| 9 | +2 Heavy Trunks, +1 Bountiful Coffer, Kindo’jan defeated |
The number that matters is hidden in the trunks: crests from a Heavy Trunk inside a labyrinth are doubled. Six trunks over a full run, each paying twice what a trunk pays anywhere else, is the fastest crest content in 12.1.5 by a wide margin. Crests are what carry your gear up its track before Venomstones can touch it.
The second number is the one that will decide whether you run this at all. Clearing a labyrinth tier unlocks the next delve tier. Tier 3 opens Delve Tier 4, Tier 5 opens Tier 6, Tier 7 opens Tier 8. Wowhead’s page for the Tier 7 achievement lists that unlock outright. Delves are not a side activity in Season 2: Tier 11 Bountiful Delves are one of the Venomstone sources. If your delve progress stops at a tier that will not open, this is the door. The rest of the ladder gets confirmed as tiers go live.
Achievements, Titles and the Loa-Blessed Wayfarer
| Achievement | Requirement | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Labyrinth of Kindo’jan: Tier 1–11 | Three chambers on each tier | One achievement per tier; Tier 3, 5 and 7 unlock delve tiers |
| Who’s Labyrinth? | Nine chambers on Tier 11 | Title: Maze Runner |
| My Labyrinth | 100 chambers in total | Achievement |
| Kindo’jan’s Labyrinth Discoveries | Find the discoveries inside | Title: Treasure Hound |
| Happy Hexmask Collector | 3 Hexmasks | Achievement |
| Lock and Key / Lock and Key Master | 1 / 20 locks | Title: Lockpickin’ |
| Treasures Upon Treasures / A Few More Can’t Hurt | 10 / 50 Oddities | Achievement |
| The First Hash’ey | First Kindo’jan kill | Title: Loa-Blessed |
| Let Me Solo Him: Kindo’jan | Solo Tier 11 clear during Season 2 | Mount: Loa-Blessed Wayfarer |
| Fabled Let Me Solo Him: Kindo’jan | The same solo kill before the first reset | Title: Fabled Vanquisher of Kindo’jan |
| One-Champion Army | Nine chambers solo without losing a life | Title: Lone Raider |
The solo line is where the 12.1.5 deadlines live. Let Me Solo Him: Kindo’jan asks for a Tier 11 clear with no other player in the party. It pays the Loa-Blessed Wayfarer, a loa construct that ferries spirits into De Other Side. The mount is account-wide, and the achievement is limited to Midnight Season 2. Fabled Let Me Solo Him is the same kill made before the first weekly reset, and it is a Feat of Strength. Once that reset passes, the Fabled Vanquisher title cannot be earned by anyone, ever. One solo clear in launch week collects both, plus The First Hash’ey and the Tier 11 achievement.
Aqir Invasions in Eversong Woods and Zul’Aman
Aqir Invasions are the outdoor event of Patch 12.1.5, and they run on a clock. Ten minutes at the top of every hour, alternating between Eversong Woods and Zul’Aman. Inside the window a chain of events builds toward a boss, so the ten minutes are structured rather than a free-for-all. Join late and you land in the middle of the chain.
Six scenarios sit in the pool, three combat and three not. Each combat scenario rolls one of eight affixes:
| Affix | Affix |
|---|---|
| Void Protection | Swarms! |
| Aqir Burrower | Aqir Elites |
| Void Sphere | Void Infestation |
| Astalor’s Anguish | Web Weavers |
Effects are still being tuned on the PTR. Treat the names as a checklist of what can appear rather than a strategy sheet; this section gets the details when they hold still. The progression attached to the event is settled. Invasions feed reputation with the Aqir Research Enclave, and Exalted pays the title Aqir Research Associate. Three Feats of Strength sit on top. No Hives Left Standing for all six scenarios, Driving Back the Swarm for ten invasions, and Bane of the Swarm as the meta with a title of its own.
For most characters this is the lowest-effort progression in 12.1.5. Ten minutes an hour, no group requirement, no lockout. The reputation runs in the background while you wait on a raid night or a key group.
Ascendant Venomstones in 12.1.5: the Neck Upgrade and New Sources
Ascendant Venomstones are Season 2’s successor to Season 1’s Ascendant Voidcores. They exist for one job: pushing a finished item one rank above the ceiling of its track. They have been in Season 2 since 12.1, and this patch brings three changes worth planning around. The neck slot joins weapons and trinkets. Kith’ix joins the raid bosses that drop stones. Tier 11 Bountiful Delves and Nightmare Prey Hunt chests join the source list.
Venomstone collection does not start on its own. Orin Straylight stands near the Catalyst in Silvermoon City with the quest Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom. You finish it, Orin does his research, and stones drop after that. The wording implies the research takes time rather than resolving on the spot. That makes it the one errand worth doing on day one, because everything else here waits behind it.
| Source | Stones | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Heroic raid boss | 1 each | Venomous Abyss, Tidebound Grotto, The Unbinding of Kith’ix |
| Mythic raid boss | 1 each | The same three raids on Mythic |
| Mythic+ key, +10 and above | 1 per key | Any Season 2 dungeon |
| Tier 11 Bountiful Delve | Confirmed at launch | Tier 11 open on the character |
| Nightmare Prey Hunt | Confirmed at launch | Champion gear chests from outdoor hunts |
Ten stones buy one upgrade on one item, and the item has to be fully upgraded already. That means a Season 2 Hero or Myth piece at the top of its track, or a Tidal Crafted one at highest quality. Weapons, trinkets and necks only; armor is not eligible. How much item level the upgrade adds is still being tested, and we are not printing a number until it stops moving. The upgrade panel shows the result for the piece you select.
The arithmetic of a raid week is the part to internalize. After 12.1.5, a full Heroic raid week is eight bosses in Venomous Abyss, Nymrissa in Tidebound Grotto and Kith’ix. That is exactly ten stones, exactly one upgrade. Ten Mythic+ keys at +10 or higher pay the same ten with no lockout, so a key team can get there faster than a raid roster. Which road is quicker depends entirely on what your character can already enter.
Sporebearer Fungal Strider: the 5,000,000 Gold Mount
A vendor NPC in Harandar sells the Sporebearer Fungal Strider. It is the expensive kind of useful: the mount carries mail and repair, with two more services sold separately.
| What | Gold |
|---|---|
| Sporebearer Fungal Strider (mail and repair included) | 5,000,000 |
| Auctioneer | +1,500,000 |
| Transmogrifier | +500,000 |
| Everything | 7,000,000 |
Two NPCs ride along at a time, and you swap the active pair at the Den in Harandar. Buying all three services is about choice, not carrying every vendor at once. The achievement Fungal Not Frugal comes with the purchase. The Strider is a vendor mount, not a seasonal reward — the raid, Mythic+, PvP and Delve mounts of Midnight Season 2 are a separate set with their own deadlines, and they are all in our WoW Midnight Season 2 mounts guide.
The catch is the window. The Fungal Strider is sold only until Midnight ends. The Mighty Caravan Brutosaur got the same treatment in Battle for Azeroth, and it has been a status symbol ever since, precisely because the vendor left. The NPC upgrades stay available afterward; the mount does not. There is no rush measured in weeks, but there is a hard end. Seven million gold is not a sum most players assemble in the last month of an expansion.
12.1.5 Class Changes and Quality of Life
Class Changes
PTR
Tuning is still moving, but the shape of the pass is clear from the notes. Demon Hunter takes the largest single change in 12.1.5. Collapsing Star gets reworked range and cooldown, and the Void-Scarred and Devourer trees see Demonic Intensity and Violent Transformation rebuilt rather than nudged. Marksmanship Hunter gains the talent Blood Fletching and loses Unload. Protection Warrior gets a plain buff. Execute no longer demands extra rage and hits for double, while Colossus cuts the cost of Execute and Revenge by ten. Everything else in the notes so far is numbers rather than redesign.
Warband, Prey, Housing and UI
- Warband reputations: Legion and Battle for Azeroth reputations become warbound. Two more expansions’ worth of grinds now count across the account.
- Prey catch-up: below rank 3, a hunt pays 4,000 Journey. At ranks 3 through 8, the first four hunts each week pay 2,000.
- Housing: keybinds for floors, a shortcut to blueprints, and Public Neighborhoods that stop asking for repeat Endeavors.
- Interface: coordinates under the minimap without an addon, dispel indicators on raid frames, and macro pings that carry a tooltip.
Week One in 12.1.5: What to Do First
Patch 12.1.5 has one hard deadline, one long errand and one gate that blocks a whole system. In order:
- Start Orin’s quest on day one. Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom near the Catalyst in Silvermoon City costs a few minutes. Orin’s research then runs on its own clock. Every stone you collect later depends on starting this early.
- Run the campaign. The Promise of Tomorrow pays the Light’s Faithful title and is the likely key to the raid entrance. Do it before you plan a raid night, not after.
- Climb the labyrinth ladder to Tier 7. Three chambers per tier is enough for each tier achievement, and Tier 7 opens Tier 8 delves. That is what puts Tier 11 Bountiful Delves, and their Venomstones, in reach later.
- Decide on the Fabled run immediately. A solo Tier 11 clear before the first weekly reset is the only shot at the Fabled Vanquisher title. Week one is exactly when characters are least geared for it. Either your character is ready on patch day or this one is not happening.
- Clear Kith’ix on Heroic. It is the tenth Venomstone of a full raid week and the first crack at three role-specific trinkets. The achievement date is the only permanent record of having been there early.
- Do not panic about the Fungal Strider. Seven million gold is a long-term project, and the vendor stays until Midnight ends. Start saving; do not reorganize your week around it.
Everything on that list except the Fabled run can be done at your own pace across the first two weeks. If you would rather have the schedule handled, our Patch 12.1.5 pre-orders are rostered from the day the patch opens.
What Closes and When
| Reward | Window |
|---|---|
| Fabled Vanquisher of Kindo’jan (title) | Until the first weekly reset after the patch goes live — then gone permanently |
| Loa-Blessed Wayfarer (mount) | Midnight Season 2 |
| Ascendant Venomstones | Season 2 — the upgrade is a seasonal system |
| Sporebearer Fungal Strider | Until Midnight ends; the NPC upgrades remain afterward |
| Heroic: Kith’ix / Mythic: Kith’ix | Permanent — but the achievement date is not |
| Aqir Research Enclave titles and Feats | Not stated; treat as open until Blizzard says otherwise |
Two of those rows are worth reading twice. The Fabled title is a Feat of Strength. It does not belong to a season and does not come back in a later patch: the door closes at the first reset and stays closed. The Fungal Strider’s door closes at the end of the expansion. That sounds distant until you count how much gold seven million actually is. Everything else in 12.1.5 will be there when you get to it.
