Ashes of Al'ar has approximately a 1.7% drop chance from Kael'thas Sunstrider — with a strict weekly raid lockout that limits every character to one attempt per seven days. At the median, a player needs over 40 kills to have a 50% chance of seeing it drop. Many dedicated players farm for over a year. There is no alternative way to obtain this mount in TBC, other than the rare Black Market Auction House listing which requires massive amounts of gold.

How the Kael'thas Farm Actually Works

Tempest Keep: The Eye contains four bosses, but for Ashes of Al'ar farming only the final boss matters. Our boosters walk directly to Kael'thas Sunstrider's chamber, skipping all other encounters, completing each run in under 10 minutes.
