How TBC Anniversary Arena Points Are Calculated
TBC Anniversary uses the formula Blizzard published at the start of the realm, and Season 3 has not changed it. Rating goes in, a base value comes out, and each bracket takes a share of that base. 2v2 pays 76%, 3v3 pays 88% and 5v5 pays the full 100%. On Anniversary realms the rating is personal — there are no team ratings. The number you enter is the one on your character sheet for that bracket.

2v2 = base × 0.76 | 3v3 = base × 0.88 | 5v5 = base × 1.00Three rules decide whether the number is paid at all. A bracket counts only if you played 10 rated games in it during the week; nine is zero. Only one bracket pays — the one where your arena points are highest. The other two are ignored, not added. Points arrive once, at the weekly reset: Tuesday on US realms, Wednesday on EU. On top of that sits a storage cap of 5,000 arena points. Whatever you hold above it at the reset is lost, so the calculator warns you before it happens.

The curve has a shape worth knowing. Below about 1300 rating the arena points barely move: 2v2 pays 540 to 570 whether you are at 0 or 1200. From 1500 to 1900 it is steep. Every 100 rating is worth another 100 to 150 arena points per week. Above 2200 it flattens again, and 2400 pays almost exactly what 3000 does. Everything on this page follows from that curve.

Read across the 1700 row and the 1500 row — or set both in the calculator — and the bracket argument settles itself. 1700 in 2v2 pays 1,398 arena points per week; 1500 in 5v5 pays 1,111. The bracket with the smallest multiplier beats the bracket with the largest one. 200 rating on the steep part of the curve is worth more than the 24% gap between 2v2 and 5v5. Play the bracket where your rating is highest, not the one that pays the most on paper.
After 2200 the growth is close to zero: 2200 pays 2,466 in 5v5, 3000 pays 2,477. Once you are there, rating stops being about arena points at all. It is about the 2000 gate on Vengeful shoulders, which you have already passed, and about the Gladiator title at the end of Season 3 — the one reward the TBC Anniversary calculator cannot count for you.

Two rating gates sit on the Vengeful Gladiator vendor, and only two. Every weapon — two-hander, spell-power main hand, physical main hand — needs 1700 rating in any bracket. Shoulders need 2000. On Anniversary realms the weapon gate is 1700, not the 1850 of the original TBC vendor that some lists still quote. Head, chest, hands and legs have no requirement. That is why the four-piece set without shoulders is the realistic target for most players: 5,580 arena points, no gate.
The Vindicator off-set — bracers, belt, boots, rings, neck, cloak — is bought with honor and marks, not arena points, and needs no rating at all. The planner lists it as a checklist so you can track it, and an honor points boost covers it separately. Turn the arena side into weeks and the rating argument comes back. At 1500 in your best bracket the four-piece set is about 9 weeks and the set with a two-hander about 12. At 1700 it is 5 and 8. At 1900 it is 4 and 6. Season 3 is not long enough for 1500 to reach BiS; 1700 gets there with weeks to spare.
How to Earn Arena Points Faster
Four habits, in the order they matter, and the arena point calculator above shows what each one is worth. Play your 10 rated games in your best bracket before every reset; a missed week is the one thing the calculator cannot get back. Play the bracket where your rating is highest, not the one with the largest multiplier. Between 1500 and 1900 every 100 rating is worth more than any bracket bonus. Never sit above the 5,000 arena points cap into a reset. And buy in the order the class guides give: weapon first, because it is gated and costs the most, then hands, chest and legs, then head, then shoulders once the 2000 is there.
