Blizzard clearly tried to limit addons with the new Midnight expansion. That much is obvious. But in practice? Players adapted fast. From what you can see in-game, most of the “lost” functionality came back in different forms – just slightly cleaner, sometimes more limited, but still very effective.
Based on actual gameplay, running high Mythic+ or raids without addons just feels slower. Not impossible – but you’re always one step behind. Addons reduce decision time. And in WoW Midnight, that matters more than ever.

No more relogging just to check something. You open one window and see everything.
Also gives quick access to dungeon portals, which saves time every session.
Baganator
Baganator is a simple addon, but very clean.
It organizes your bags into categories. Gear, consumables, materials — all separated and easy to find.
Also improves currency tracking, which becomes important early in the season.
It’s one of those addons you don’t think about… until you remove it and everything feels worse.
Zygor
Zygor addon is a comprehensive software suite for WoW Midnight.
Each guide includes a guide viewer that displays step-by-step instructions on which quests to accept or hand in and from whom, what ingredients are required for professions, when to use items, and much more.
This is more of a “time saver” addon. Zygor gives you in-game guides for leveling, professions, reputations, achievements — basically everything.
It’s paid, yes. But from what I’ve seen, players who value efficiency love it. No alt-tabbing, no searching – the wayfinder will show you exactly where to go, whilst the model viewer will display 3D models of NPCs and objects mentioned in the guide.
BugSack & BugGrabber
You don’t notice these until you need them.
They hide UI errors and store them in a clean log instead of spamming your screen.
If you ever run multiple addons, this becomes essential.
